Olfactory Anthropology – 2026, in development
'Olfactory Anthropology’ is an immersive work of docufiction that follows a smell-recordist in the near future as they capture and construct a series of olfactory environments as part of their assignments. With each act of the film, the room transforms and the audience will be situated aurally, visually and olfactorily within deep history (the caves of southern France), the present (those preserving the memory of recently deceased loved ones), and the edges of exploration (the surface of distant exoplanets). The work explores the overlooked ability of smell to engineer empathy, intimacy and connection to people and places that we will never have physical access to.
