Dislocated / Displaced / Disembodied – 2021, live performance, film, live camera, projection, moveable sculpture

Three related site-specific durational performances that invited the audience to sit, stand, wander and play as the performers negotiated multiple modes of orientation and disorientation, using projection, film, mirrors and movement. Developed in collaboration with choreographer and dance artist Shivaangee Agrawal as part of their Velocities project. It was developed during Choreodrome Residency Programme at The Place and also presented at Kala Sangam in Bradford.

Dislocated was my first exploration in warping the boundary of the projected screen and reality. I used mirrors that could be pushed by audience members on an axis, that on their non-reflective side had film projected onto them from a projector aligned with an axis to change the size of the projected image. Footage included pre-recorded site-specific rehearsal footage of the performers in costume in the room (slowed down, or distorted), mixed with live hidden cameras set behind the audience that I could trigger to switch between.
